Three Pristine Beaches Near Beaufort NC
If you’re planning a move to North Carolina’s Crystal Coast, and considering various Beaufort NC real estate for sale, then being near a beach is probably a big priority for you. While it would be ideal to have a private beach in your backyard, this can often be pricey (we’re talking multi-million dollar homes). So here are some of the best public beaches in the Crystal Coast area, where you not only get great access to the water, but also family friendly activities and recreation for all types of lifestyles.
Altantic Beach: Two Miles of Historic and Family Fun
With an expansive stretch of wide beaches that are perfect for families to play and relax on the sand, Atlantic Beach is also home to the Oceanana Pier and the Fort Macon State Park. At Atlantic Beach you can swim, boogie board, get a great tan, hang out at the soon to be renovated commercial area called the Circle, or even enter in one of the state’s largest salt-water fishing contests. That’s right, come September, the King Mackerel Fishing Tournament brings some big catches to Atlantic Beach. Other events include Fourth of July Fireworks, Christmas by the Sea, and the Tuna 200 Run.
Want Something More Rustic? Head to Indian Beach.
The unincorporated community of Salter Path is some of the most unique Beaufort NC real estate for sale, if you can buy any. Salter Path separates one of the more secluded areas of the Crystal Coast, Indian Beach. Indian Beach is easily accessed however, as it’s almost exactly in between Emerald Isle and Atlantic Beach. The public beaches are very vast, and there are so few tourists that know about Indian Beach, and even fewer local residents (only 93!), that you’re sure to have the beach to yourself. Indian Beach is not without a fair share of local restaurants and kitschy shops, however, like the Big Oak Drive In and Bar-B-Que.
Pine Knoll Shores - With an Aquarium and Great Beaches Too!
Just West of Atlantic Beach, Pine Knoll Shores also offers seclusion but with luxurious details, like the Crystal Coast Country Club, nice rental homes, and a few classy hotels. The North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores has been named the best in the state by many, as it is home to diverse wildlife as well as the Rachel Carson and Roosevelt Wildlife Preserves. There are five excellent access points to the Pine Knoll Shores public beach, all off of different blocks of Salter Path Road, so whether you’re driving into town from one way or staying in a certain hotel, you can easily reach the water and have an excellent swim.
Live Next to the Beach

Bogue Watch is perfect for active beach going families.
