The Winter Warmer Beer Fest Brings Asheville Breweries to You
Mark your calendars for the seventh annual Asheville Winter Warmer Beer Fest, taking place on Saturday January 25th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. This craft brewhaha will be held at the U.S. Cellular Center (previously known as the Asheville Civic Center), but has moved up to the second level concourse area. This new part of the arena allows for more space to move around and more breweries to take part in the festivities.
What Asheville Breweries Can You Expect at the Winter Warmer?
Forty local breweries will be in attendance. These Asheville breweries and craft brewers from throughout North Carolina include everyone from microbreweries like Oysterhouse and Oskar Blues to the big dogs, Sierra Nevada and New Belgium. These Colorado based beer companies recently set up shop in the area, opening Asheville breweries just south of town. The Winter Warmer Beer Fest will be a great opportunity to introduce Asheville locals to their new brews they have in mind for the area. The festival will also host two out of town guests: Surly Brewing, the first Minnesota brewery West of the Missisippi, and Big Storm Brewing from Florida.
Beer Fest Allows Asheville Breweries To Help A Great Cause
For the past year, the Asheville Beer Fests have partnered with the Western North Carolina Alliance, or WNCA, a local non-profit. WNCA has over thirty years experience in grassroots campaigns that help to preserve the local environment. WNCA has contributed to keeping forests healthy, water clean, and Western NC citizens involved in environmental stewardship. The typical brewing process utilize many water resources, partnering with the WNCA allows Asheville breweries to preserve and improve the Western North Carolina environment they work with and live in.
Musical Guests for this Asheville Breweries Event
Not only will great beer be served, great music will be played too. Opening the show up will be Dave Deslmelik, a Brevard based singer-songwriter and instrumentalist, who is pursuing a successful solo career after success with the band Onus B. Johnson from the late 1990s to early 2000s. Then Brushfire Stankgrass, Asheville’s number one ranked bluegrass band on reverbnation, will take the stage. This unique bluegrass band adds touches of electronic elements to their music, which updates and amps up their twangy sets. In the past year, they have released an album which reached #2 in Relix Magazine’s top radio airplay chart and stayed at the top for five weeks, as well as performing at the Moog Factory.
